1. Ask the patient to sit down, tilt his head back, open his mouth wide, and remove the secretion on the surface of the anterior nostril;
2. The tongue was fixed with a tongue depressor, and a oropharyngeal swab was used to cross the base of the tongue to the posterior pharyngeal wall, tonsil recess and lateral wall;
3. The mucosal cells were collected by repeated scrubbing for 3-5 times;
4. Gently remove the swab to avoid touching the tongue, pituitary gland, oral mucosa and saliva;
5. The swab is inserted back into the sampling equipment or suitable transport equipment.

1. For suppurative pharyngitis, oropharyngeal swab culture is mainly used for screening group A β- Streptococcus haemolyticus and occult Bacillus haemolyticus;
2. When detecting Neisseria gonorrhoeae in oropharyngeal swabs, clinical laboratory should be informed in advance;
3. For pediatric patients, Haemophilus influenzae should be reported routinely;
4. In general, pharyngeal swabs should not be used alone in the diagnosis of upper respiratory tract infection, but should be combined with nasopharynx swabs or nasopharynx aspirates to improve the pathogen detection rate of respiratory tract infection.
