Pharyngeal swab
1. Concept of pharyngeal swab: dip a small amount of human pharyngeal secretions with a medical

2. Why pharyngeal swab test: collect pharyngeal or tonsil secretions for bacterial culture or virus isolation to assist in clinical diagnosis. Such as measles, hand foot mouth disease, influenza, New Coronavirus screening and so on. When suspected cases are considered clinically, pharyngeal swabs can be collected for nucleic acid detection.
3. Preparation before pharyngeal swab: pharyngeal swab sampling tube (test tube + swab), appropriately sized sealed bag with general biological hazard signs, tongue depressor, etc. Check the label on the outside of the throat swab (whether there is a date), specification, whether the color of the sampled liquid has deteriorated, whether it is turbid, whether there is sediment, etc., and fill in the information of the sampling tube (such as name, sampling unit, pasted sampling number). \ n
first communicate with the subject, and inform the subject in advance not to smoke, drink, eat gum and irritant and delicious food within 30 minutes before sampling.
4. Throat swab sampling method:
① check personal information with the subject first.
② tear off the outer package of the sampling swab and take out the sampling swab;
③ let the subject open his mouth and make an "ah" sound to expose his throat. If necessary, press the tongue down with a tongue depressor (gently press 2 / 3 of the front and 1 / 3 of the rear of the tongue);
④ take out the sterile swab, gently and quickly wipe bilateral pharyngeal tonsils and posterior pharyngeal wall for 3 times, and insert the swab head into the preservation solution,
⑤ fold off the tail of the swab storing the nozzle, discard the tail, tighten the bottle cap (strictly aseptic operation),
⑥ recheck the patient's name after sampling;
⑦. Put it into a sealed bag, put it into a special transfer box, and quickly send the sample to the laboratory for testing.
precautions for pharyngeal swab sampling:
① when the cotton swab is put into the test tube, it should be placed vertically. Do not wipe the bottle mouth to avoid pollution. Place the transfer case vertically to avoid liquid leakage.
② it is better to send it to the laboratory for inspection on the day of sampling.
③ before sending for inspection, the corresponding samples must be consistent with the inspection table. The appearance of the sampling tube must have clear and well-known basic information. Samples without basic information cannot be processed for testing: the submitted samples must submit (or submit electronic version in advance) screening information form, test form and other materials. The submitted materials shall be free from contamination and shall not be placed together with the specimens.
④. In order to prevent anatomical images during sampling, avoid taking it within 2 hours after eating. The collection action is gentle, stable and agile to prevent discomfort to patients
⑤ do not touch other parts of the pharyngeal swab during collection to ensure the accuracy of the remaining samples.
